Photograph album, [ca.1913].

This photograph album consists of photographs and postcards depicting Ala. school buildings, children, and activities, collected by the Superintendent of Education, ca.1913. Over twenty-eight counties are represented in the album. Also included are photographs and postcards of other public buildings as well as private residences. Several state colleges and university buildings are included. The album is an excellent source for illustrating school conditions, activities, and the wide range of facilities being used in Ala., ca.1913. Photographs of particular interest are those which show playground equipment and activities, county fair school exhibits, exterior and interior views of older school buildings still in use, including the state's only log school house, students at work in the classroom, and agricultural activities including gardening, canning, and corn clubs. Three persons identified in the photographs are Junius Hill, W.E. Laney, Pauline May, and Ala. governor Emmet O'Neal. Most of the photographs were processed by Tresslar's Studio of Montgomery, Ala.
